The Nordic Wolf canteen set is one of those pieces of gear I bring on almost every trip. 1.2 litres of capacity plus a matching cup that doubles as a cooking pot – enough to carry water, brew coffee or prepare a quick meal without hauling extra cookware.
Design & Materials#
The set consists of the canteen itself and a stainless steel cup that serves as a cook pot. The bottle nests snugly inside the cup, and the included pouch lets you attach both to your belt or pack. Stainless steel is heavier than titanium but tough and fire-safe – placing it directly in the coals is no problem at all.
In the Field#
I regularly use the canteen cup to boil water and cook small portions. Quail eggs, soup, coffee – it handles everything. The wide opening makes eating straight from the cup comfortable. Paired with a hobo stove or open fire, the set is ready to go within minutes.
Verdict#
A solid, no-fuss cook set for day hikes and overnighters. If you prefer stainless steel and don’t want to carry a separate pot, this is a well-thought-out system. For multi-day trips requiring more volume I’d add a larger pot – but for a day in the woods the set is spot on.
