onewindonewind Hammock Cradle Bugnet
No More Midnight Battles#
There comes a point in every hammock camper’s life when a simple head net just doesn’t cut it anymore. Lying in my hammock on a warm summer night, swatting mosquitoes while trying to change into dry clothes — that got old fast. The onewind Hammock Cradle Bugnet turned out to be the piece of gear that finally solved this problem for me, and it’s earned a permanent spot in my pack during bug season.
Setup and Materials#
The bugnet attaches to the hammock via a U-shaped zipper and fits 11- and 12-foot onewind hammocks. Snap buttons along the ridgeline keep everything taut and in place. Setting it up takes about two minutes — thread the zipper, snap the buttons, done. The mesh is a no-see-um weave with 1,600 holes per square inch, which means even the tiniest gnats stay outside. The floor is made from 40D nylon ripstop, sturdy enough to handle daily use without adding unnecessary weight. One feature I’ve come to appreciate is the zippered floor compartment. I toss my boots, socks, and headlamp in there before settling in for the night — everything stays protected and within reach.

In the Field#
Perfect for getting changed in peace without any mosquito bites – and for keeping your gear and clothes safe from ticks overnight!
What really won me over is the enclosed space the bugnet creates around the entire hammock. I can change clothes in peace without getting bitten, and my gear stays protected overnight. In tick-heavy areas, this matters more than you’d think — no more checking every piece of clothing in the morning. At 600 grams with a packed size of 14 by 28 centimetres, the bugnet barely registers in my backpack. Sure, it’s one more item to carry, but anyone who regularly hammock camps during summer knows the trade-off is worth it. On cool autumn nights when insects aren’t an issue, I leave it behind without hesitation. It’s not essential for every trip, but from May through September it goes wherever I go.

Verdict#
The onewind Hammock Cradle Bugnet does exactly what it promises — reliable insect protection with a smart design that doubles as gear storage. If you’re running a onewind hammock setup and spend time outdoors during bug season, this is a genuinely useful addition. If you only hammock camp occasionally or rarely deal with insects, you can probably do without. For me, it’s become part of the standard kit.
