Nordic Wolf Skogra Pan Stand

The Skogra by Nordic Wolf is a stainless steel cooking stand that splits into single parts. I use it to set a pan or pot right over the embers instead of balancing cookware on stacked stones.

Materials and Build

The stand is all stainless steel and screws together from single elements, no tools needed. After a few turns you get a triangle standing 18 cm tall with a 17 cm support surface on each side. Taken apart, everything packs down to 18 cm and goes into the included leather pouch, which keeps soot and grime away from the rest of your gear. At 250 g including the pouch, I barely notice it in the pack.

In the Field

The Skogra goes on the fire whenever the pan or the kettle needs to sit over embers. The three legs stand firm on uneven forest ground and the triangular surface carries cookware in different sizes. For coffee I rake some embers under the stand and set the kettle straight on top. Once everything has cooled down, I wipe it off, unscrew the parts and it all goes back into the pouch.
