Nordic Wolf Wool Blanket
The wool blanket from Nordic Wolf is made from 100% sheep’s wool and comes along on bushcraft trips and overnights where I don’t want a complicated sleep system.
Material and Build#
Sheep’s wool regulates temperature naturally, absorbs moisture without feeling cold against the skin, and is far safer around a campfire than synthetic materials. The army green colour is solid and the fabric feels well made, not too thin, not unnecessarily heavy. The leather carry strap is included and lets you roll it up tightly for transport.
As a ground layer for the complete sleep setup I pair it with the FREYA Bedroll from Nordic Wolf, a canvas wool mat that works well underneath.

In the Field#
At mild temperatures the wool blanket replaces a sleeping bag entirely. When it gets colder it goes on top. Around the campfire sheep’s wool is the better choice over synthetics because it doesn’t melt. Compared to a classic Swiss army blanket this one is noticeably lighter and less bulky. If you need maximum insulation for winter, an inflatable outdoor sleeping mat does more. For summer and shoulder seasons the wool does what wool does.
